A new blog!
A new city, a new life, why not a new blog?
This is my first post from Nashville, coming to you from Bread & Company, my new favorite place to lunch, not to mention my new office. (Sorry, Starbucks North & Wells. Bread & Co. has free wireless! Snap!)
I’m in Belle Meade, or, essentially, Lake Forest meets antebellum South. The high schoolers all go to places like Montgomery Bell Academy (tagline: Gentleman, Scholar, Athlete) where the guys play lacrosse and the girls wear navy and green plaid school uniform skirts, which they roll up at the waist after school lets out. They carry expensive bags, but, like everyone else in Nashville, they are actually nice. I have lost count of the number of times I’ve been startled at being greeted by strangers on the street.
All the ladies who lunch (with me) at Bread & Company Belle Meade are still dressed from their tennis matches, and I find myself scanning their faces to see if I recognize anyone from my yoga class this morning.
And with Rob’s law firm asking after me and promising lovely corporate outings, and Rob himself signing up for golf lessons, I feel like I’m supposed to be a trophy wife or something.
Except I am wearing Crocs and $40 jeans I haven’t washed in two weeks, I’m driving a stinky, hail-damaged Civic, and I couldn’t be bothered to dry my hair, again.
And oh yeah, I have four jobs. It’s enough to give a girl an identity crisis!
So there you have it: the reason for my new blog, chronicling our new life in Nashville.
(Plus, I think Rob was afraid The Firm would find my old blog (which had my full name in the URL) and we’d have a mafia hit put on us and we’d have to escape to the Caymans or something.)
